The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

When I arrived at Penn State, I had no idea about a major. Thank goodness for "liberal arts" where I learned that I liked science and the arts. I sang with the Meditation Chapel Choir and traveled with the choir to Europe. What a great experience for a small town girl! After graduation, I migrated to Delaware and continued to travel as a flight attendant with an international charter airline. I also began teaching, finally settling on middle school science. I married Bill, a Delaware attorney, and we traveled a lot. (I especially liked those places with animals, Africa and the Galapagos.) Back in school at the University of Delaware (UD), I earned advanced degrees - MEd and PhD. in Curriculum, with a focus on science education. I continued to teach at UD, mostly science methods for elementary and middle school teachers. Now retired, I continue to sing in the First Unitarian Church choir and with a group that sings in retirement homes. And, Bill and I continue to travel. I have not continued to teach, but work with a church project in which we try to support young adults who have aged out of foster care. And, in full circle, I am back at school "the UD Academy of Life Long Learning" taking a variety of courses taught by the members. So, I return to the liberal arts!
